Answers:
circumsision is where they cut away the forskin of a man. it is done at different points in different cultures. in christian and jewish based societies it is done when the child is an infant. in many muslim countries it is done later.

if when a man is flacid there is loose skin covering the tip of his penis, he isnt circumsized. the fear is that men that arent, arent as clean as men that are. the covering of skin can hide bacteria and std's if it is not retracted by hand and cleaned regularly. on the other side, circumsized men are exposed and become less sensitive in theory, and it inhibits thier enjoyment of sex.

in my view either is fine. be happy as you are and work with what you are.

yes, Christ would have been, because he was born in a culture that practiced it. later christians were often converted from other cultures that didnt practice it. the appostles prayed about it and decided not to put them through that pain as an adult, that this was a blood sacrifice that no longer held any meaning since christ's blood covered all need for that. think of it like this, as far as the old testement laws, ordinances and statutes, it is blood for blood. anything requiring blood was fulfilled by Christ and no longer needs to be done.Health Question & Answer

Circumcision damages the penis, and inhibits the enjoyment of sex, as it decreases the sexual sensitivity.

They chop off the foreskin, using several different methods, slicing it off, there's a torture device which is a plastic bell that crushes and strangles the blood supply, killing the skin so that it dies and falls off.

Most men in the world are not circumcised. It's normal to have a foreskin and it's abnormal to cut it off.

Jews and Moslems mutilate male children.

Jesus was a Jew. The Apostle Paul wrote that Christians aren't supposed to get circumcised, but many Christians ignore parts of the Bible, selecting what to choose and believe, rather than following the whole religion. Paul wrote about it both in his letters to the Corinthians and the Ephesians, also.Health Question & Answer

Why are people circumsized.?

This comes to us via the Judeo-Christian religious practices of Jews and Christians. To be a Jew in good standing, you have to be circumcized. The "bris" (or the circumsising party and I do mean party) is to take place on the 8th day of good health.

How is it done.?

In contemporary medicine, it is done with a scapel, but in very conservative jewish families, it is also done with a sharp piece of flint.

What kind of people get circumsized.?

Mainly those who are Jewish or Christian

Why did Jesus get circumsized and why do Christians follow this.?

Jesus, if he was born healthy, would have been circumsized as above, on the 8th day of good health. Most christians that are circumsized have it done shortly after delivery. To get a circumcision after puberty, when the penis can get really erect is very painful, so generally it is not done on adults unless they were a serious problem. Problems generally are the inability to get an erection without pain because the head of the penis will not go through the foreskin. Health Question & Answer

People are circumcised mostly for two reasons, health misconceptions and conformity. A much smaller number of people actually decided to get circumcised for themselves and/or had valid medical reasons for getting it done. Many people, feel a lot of pressure to have it done, however, I think the decision should be his choice, he is the one that has to live with the decision. There are some common myths/ideas about why people think circumcision is needed....

1. The "cleaner" idea spawns mainly from improper care of the penis... by parents, adults, and teens. Parents think they must pull back the skin to clean it as infants, however, the foreskin is "glued" to the glans and forced separation will cause tears, redness, and infection. You are just suppose to wash the outside until it becomes retractible. Then parents (and adults/teens) 4overuse soap because they think the area is so dirty it needs more cleaning, which not only creates problems, but also amplifies any current issues. Soap removes the bad AND good bacteria, which is why there are special cleaners to get rid of infections (monistat, etc). If someone knows about these misconceptions they will avoid most of the issues. Saldy even doctors and pediatricians can give improper advice.

2. Medically, there is nothing but controversial studies and misconceptions like the "cleanliness" reason. Many many reasons have been disproved or negated by other factors. I will not take a permanent gamble for my son that the PRO studies are right AND that he would actually prefer to have them over being intact. He will have 15-20 years before he even starts using his penis perhaps even MORE for sex... during which the studies may clear up and he can form his own opinion about it.

3. Religion and personal preference vary per person, and forcing someone to permanently be the way you like, is wrong... they deserve the right to choose what is best for their life and their body. We dont force ANY other permanent non-medical cosmetic procedure upon our kids.

4. When I asked a question here if a woman would want to remove some of her labia if it meant the same benefits as male circ, NO ONE said yes. This just shows how much personal and cultural bias male circumcision has.

As for what is involved in a circumcision... typically people are given this idea that the foreskin is "the tip of the penis" or "extension of skin" or "flap of skin" when really most of the removed tissue is actually located more or less in the middle/upper middle area of the shaft. Circumcision removes this midsection and "stitches" the remaining upper/lower sections together to create the scar line.

The foreskin is mobile which is thought to help reduce rawing friction, increase pleasure, and reduce the need for lubrication for women. For men, the foreskin is nerve rich and keeps the head "fresh" and protected from drying out or contacting things that could harm it or reduce its ability to detect movement (ie clothing, bedding, fabric, etc). It provides an easy way to masturbate or perform oral/handjobs by simply moving the skin, and is self-lubricating.

Christians do not needed to circumcise and after reading some of Paul's writings, I would say they should not have it done at all. I know this is a lot of info, but considering the decision is permanent, I would leave the decision up to the child, I hope this clears up any confusion.Health Question & Answer

Jews and Muslims are circumcised for religious reasons whilst many African tribes and folk in several other places such as Polynesia do it for cultural reasons. However all of these actually boil down to health reasons due to the conditions in which they traditionally live or lived.

In developed countries such as the USA circumcision is mainly performed because of its long-term health benefits. It has been shown by many medical studies that infant circumcision reduces the risk of infant UTIs (urinary tract infections) by around 10 times.

Cancer of the penis in older men is virtually unknown amongst those circumcised in childhood and very rare for any circumcised man.

Circumcision totally eliminates phimosis, paraphimosis, frenulum breve and balanitis. It also provides a very significant degree of protection against some sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia, HPV and HIV/AIDS.

Circumcision in infancy is most frequently done by placing a plastic bell over the glans and the foreskin over the bell. A strin is then tightly tied over the foreskin into a groove in the bell. This cuts off the blood supply to the foreskin which dies and falls off in about 5 days leaving a very neat result which needs no stitches or other treatment.

Older children and adults are more likely to be circumcised by pulling the foreskin forward and clamping it in forceps before cutting it off using the forceps as a guide. The cut edges of the inner and outer layers are then stitched together after bleeding points have been cauterised or tied off. Healing takes 2-3 weeks to complete.

In all cases of medical circumcision some form of anaesthetic, either local or general, is used. There is some discomfort during healing but not such as can really be called pain.

Jesus was born a Jew and so was circumcised on the 8th day as required under Jewish religious law to satisfy the Covenant. The first Christians were either Jewish converts, and hence already circumcised, or had to submit to circumcision as part of initially becoming Jews before being accepted as Christians. However, when St Paul started converting non-Jews in large numbers it was considered a burden for them to first have to become Jews and observe all of the Jewish Law (not just circumcision, although that was the obvious outward sign) and thus the Apostles decided that circumcision was not essential to being a Christian. Many Christian groups, such as the Copts, do still practice infant circumcision as a part of their religion.Health Question & Answer

It's part of some religions. People have tried to promote it for medical reasons, but none of that stands up to scrutiny. It's not medically necessary, can harm a guy's sex life, and most men in the world never get it done.

Jews and Muslims circumcise as part of their religion (though there are members of both groups against the practice). It is not necessary for Christians and this is stated in the bible. Jesus was circumcised because he was born into a Jewish family.
