Can a 17 year old get Circumcised?!

Question: Can a 17 year old get Circumcised.?
Is it possible to get a Circumcision done when you are 17-18.?

What are the differences in getting it done in your teens, compared to getting it done as a baby.?

And, how would someone who is 17 go by having it done, and who should he speak to.?

Thanks in advance.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Circumcision can be done at any age although it is much quicker, simpler and less costly in infancy. It is a simple, safe and quick procedure which can be done in the doctor's office under local anaesthetic.

A baby heals much faster than a teen or adult (who needs about 4 weeks to fully heal against 1 week for the baby). A baby feels little discomfort during the short healing time whereas a teen or adult's erections tend to pull on the stitches that are in for around 2 weeks. A baby does not have to worry about having time off school or work during any of the healing time but an adult will normally want to take the first week off.

On the other side of the coin, a baby's penis is too small to be able to judge if the final result will be a 'high' or 'low' cut or how tight it will be. By 17 your penis will have grown to a point where the doctor can make accurate judgements as to where to place the cut and how much skin to remove to give you the aesthetic result that you have chosen for yourself.

Depending on the jurisdiction in which you live, you may be able to give your own consent to elective surgery from age 16 or you may need to wait until 18 before you can do this for yourself. Otherwise you would need to obtain parental consent. If you are covered on your parents' medical insurance then despite being over 16/18 you would still need parental approval in order that they could claim off the insurance on your behalf.

In the USA, almost any urologist will perform a circumcision and you can find their details in Yellow Pages or be referred to one by your normal primary care physician. (Note that Jewish mohelim and rabbis are normally only able to circumcise babies and not adults unless also full doctors.)

In other countries the availability of suitable circumcisers varies considerably. Your physician is probably the best place to start but if he cannot help then the Gilgal Society has a listing of possible circumcisers around the world.Health Question & Answer

A circumcision can be done at any age. It's only a bit of excess skin outside the body - no big deal. Jewish rabbis used to do it. Don't know they still do in some places.
The fore skin is smaller in a baby and much easier to just snip with a pair of scissors. In a grown person the skin is obviously much bigger and it takes longer to cut it off and needs more stitches. It also takes longer to heal because its a bigger cut area.
Any general surgeon can do it. Usually a urologist may do it because he's more experienced in that area of the body. It'll require a general anaesthetic and you'll be pretty tender there for a couple days. Some docs put a catheter in for a day or two thinking it'll make urinating easier and lower possible infections. Infections are very rare in any case. You'll be much happier and run a significant risk of carrying infections under your fore skin when you get it done.
Easier for the girl to do oral sex on a circumcised penis too as there's not all that extra flopping skin to deal with.
Health Question & Answer

Yes you can but it's not necessary and I definitely wouldn't recommend it unless the guy is having foreskin problems that can't be treated any other way (unlikely). It will take away sexual sensation, hurt and be expensive.

Teenagers get proper pain relief compared to babies, and they also don't have to have the foreskin forcibly separated from the glans.

Speak to a urologist.

The biggest difference is you are making a choice for what you want for your body, your life, and are able to decide for yourself what is best. An infant wouldn't get to make the choice and could potentially be stuck with something he didn't want.

Other then personal choice, an infant is unable to receive the local anesthetic and strong pain medication an adult would receive. However, even with them it is still going to be painful. As an adult the head of your penis will be "fresh" and sensitive meaning when done as infants, the head of the penis is exposed to diapers, clothing, etc that the head of the penis must build up a resistance to for 15+ years before the boy even uses his penis. However, eventually the same thing will happen to an adult.

As for masturbation and sex, other then sensation, not much changes between adult/infant. However, circumcision leaves the skin of the penis mostly immobile. Masturbation/oral/handjobs become more difficult and require some sort of lubrication to properly recieve enough pleasure. The lack of mobile skin can increase rawing friction and increase the need for lubrication for the woman.

All the above effects varies per person so there is no set standard, just general guidelines. I for one would never get it done (if I had been given the choice) unless there was a medical reason I could not get around by anything other then circumcision.... which doesn't leave much.Health Question & Answer

I don't know why you would want to do this, it damages the penis, makes it smaller, destroys sexual sensitivity and is abnormal.

Look at the site circumstitions before you do this; the doctors won't give you information about the complications and ramifications of mutilating your penis, as they like to make money lopping off foreskins, especially since a lot of them belong to the religions that try to mutilate all males.Health Question & Answer

gosh,, i wonder what's up with all the circumcision seekers today.?

see a urologist if you think you need to consider gettin' one...
i;m sorry you feel this way, i hope it's not to be like "everyone else"

there is surgery and pain involved to begin with... sexual sensation decreases after your corona becomes desensitized from constant exposure... is it worth it.?

much less and the least thing i would be concerned about is that the doctor doesn't do it for free either... i hear it's about a 1500.00 deal

ohh yea,,, and you get stitches to deal with, and can't take your buddy out for several weeks...

whatever........ Health Question & Answer
