Push up advise, please help.?!


Question: Push up advise, please help..?
I am 16 years old and i weigh 200 pounds (not fat), i can do the bench press at 200 pounds with out any help. BUT for some strange reason, i can't do push-ups well, maxium is 6. Any advise on improving this.?.?.?Health Question & Answer

well, might because of this. when you train for strength (probly what your doing) u use heavy weight, low reps and many sets. since your body is so used to doing not many reps, even with heavy weight, it finds it hard to do lots and lots of reps with light weight. (could be, anyway)

Just do 3 sets of as many push ups as you can possibly do, with about 40sec rest inbetween. do that daily and u should start seeing results ,eventually move on to 4 of those sets.

also, dont stop the reps like most people do just when you get tired. push through it and dont stop untill you actually cant push yourself up any more. thats when itll make a difference (for light weighted exercises at least. use heavy weights, do that, and could cause damage)Health Question & Answer

I believe you need to work on your core strength.
It is paramount in maintaing pushup endurance and correct technique.

your so heavy it will be difficult for your body to manage.
only advice i can give is to keep working at it,
