There is a small string of what looks like flesh connecting the head of my penis to the foreskin. Is this ok?!

Question: There is a small string of what looks like flesh connecting the head of my penis to the foreskin. Is this ok.?
I'm 15 years old, and my penis is around 5-6 inches, but there is also always a tight bit of skin at the top, keeping the head in, even when i'm erect.

Is this normal.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
The 'string' you are referring to is presumably on the under side of the penis. This is the frenulum. Its purpose is to assist the foreskin to return to covering the glans (head) as an erection subsides. It should, however, be long enough to allow the foreskin to be freely smoothed back down the shaft of the erect penis. If the frenulum fails to develop properly then one gets the condition you describe, called frenulum breve - ie 'short frenulum'.

If a frenulum breve is left untreated then there is a very distinct possibility that it will be torn during sex with very painful and bloody consequences. The frenulum is also likely to become abraded and inflamed during both masturbation and penetrative sex.

Treatment for frenulum breve alone is for a doctor to either simply divide it or, preferably, to remove the frenulum altogether. This would be done under local anaesthetic.

When one is circumcised the frenulum is normally cut at the same time so as to eliminate any possible future problems from it.

It is not clear from your question if you have only the problem of frenulum breve or if you are also suffering from phimosis - ie the condition in which the opening in the tip of the foreskin is too small to pass freely over the rim of the glans to expose the whole glans and the coronal sulcus (groove) behind it. Since both phimosis and frenulum breve are developmental abnormalities it is quite common for both to be present at the same time. The only sure and permanent cure for phimosis is circumcision, which will also take care of your short frenulum.Health Question & Answer

Jeff dude the skin is on the bottom of your unit it is called the ferunllum (sp) it is suppost to be there and what your discription is your uncircumsized and the skin isnt pulling back and it tight at the opening. dude if you work at it in the shower pulling it back everyday streaching the opening it will eventually streach out so the forskin can move back and forth as it should. the Foreskin should move back and forth freely hard or soft. work at it and you will be fine

you seem to be talking about two different things... your first part seems to me referring to your frenulum,,, perfectly normal...
the second seems to refer to phimosis... the corona of your penis is not exposed during an erection... i suggest you start sessions of sitting in the bathtub and stretching your foreskin so that the head of your penis is exposed during an erection... it sound like you don't have a problem with it when it's flaccid since you can see your frenulum... good luck!Health Question & Answer

don't worry this is normal every guy has it. i'm guessing ur foreskin just hasn't retracted yet but other peoples foreskin may retract at different stages. not to alarm you but apparently after your 20 if the foreskin doesn't retract its a medical condition. but this isn't fact. all you have to do is try to retract it a little more every day like in the bath or shower but don't stretch that ur in pain just keep gradually doin this then eventually the foreskin should retract the whole way and everything is all peaches and cream lmao:) yeah no but i'm 14 and i asked the kinda same question and got helpful answers so hope this helpedHealth Question & Answer

First question are you circumsised if you are not its normal but if you are it means you have a lot of extra skin left from being circumsised its okay and wont hurt anything but a doctor can remove it my sons not circumsised its okay! does it hurt if it does go to a doctor if not you just unique and its you body Health Question & Answer
