I think my boyfriend has the same hair as his Mum, but I can't tell. But the only other guy with hair like his Mum in the family was her uncle, who went completely bald. I don't have a problem with baldness, but my boyfriend wouldn't look good bald and it would remind to much of my step dad. So what are his chances.?Health Question & Answer

The trait that determines baldness is carried on the X chromosome. So if his mom goes bald (unlikely) then she has the trait on both her X chromosomes and he will definitely go bald. If she isn't bald, she could still have the trait and could have given it to her son. If she does have the trait then there's a 50% chance that he will go bald. If any of her siblings are bald then there's a chance that she could have the trait but it's hard to tell exactly what the chances are based on your description.
