No it will not be painful. You will have to lay down on a cot near the ultrasound equipment. You will be able to see the monitor. The nurse will have you lower your pants to access your genitals and your scrotum area. They will be tactful and professional They will put a gel on your scrotal area and then an instrument that vibrates and sends out sound waves. They will move that around over the area and an image of your testical will appear on a monitor and they will record so they can look at it more closely. Now some practical advice from a fellow male who has had similar tests. This is one of those moments in medical treatment that all modesty goes out the window. You simply cannot do this procedure without your penis and scrotum being fully exposed to the doctor and nurse and attendant. So just let it be. also, they will try to work quickly but since a vibrating object will be near your penis you may get an erection. Do not let that bother you they see that on a daily bases and fully understand. They will try to cover what they can with towels etc. but in order to get the pictures they need they will have to look at your scrotum and some of the penis. The procedure will really really help them determine the nature of the pain and provide for treatment so that you do not loose the testicle. Good luck if you have time let me know how it went. No it is not painful, unless the area is extremely tender. Let the technician know if you are very tender down there.

All they are gunna do is put some jelly on it (no, not like peanut butter and jelly) and then just look at it as they put a little thing on it. You will prolly be more aroused than anything.Health Question & Answer
