Yes, it's ok. Don't let it become the focus of your life.Health Question & Answer

Yes, it's okay to masturbate and it is good for the body, for it releases sexual tensions and feelings. I've also heard that masturbation can be relaxing to the nerves after enduring something stressful. When your friend is able to ejaculate, if he can't already, it's a way to release built up semen in the body also. As long as he does it in the privacy of his own room and it doesn't become an obsession, he's fine. If he masturbates excessively, if he can ejaculate, his testicles will become sore from having to pull up to take the sperm from them. If he can't, he may become sore, but nothing much. Hope this helps.Health Question & Answer

Masturbating is perfectly safe, and very good for your health, at any age. I started at 10 - every night, and it's never been a problem. This is from Wikipedia:

"A 1997 study in the British Medical Journal based upon 918 men age 45-59 found that after a ten year follow-up, men who had fewer orgasms were twice as likely to die of any cause as those having two or more orgasms a week."

Put another way - having at least two orgasms a week halves your chance of dying between the ages of 45 and 59.

You can see how this makes sense - when you masturbate your heart beats faster, and your breathing speeds up. Since the heart and lungs are two of the most important organs in the body, any safe activity that exercises them is good for your general health.

Other studies have found that frequent masturbation reduces the risk of prostate cancer - a doctor who studied the evidence recommended that teenagers masturbate at least six times a week. It is thought that regular ejaculation clears the prostate gland of chemicals that can cause cancer.

Masturbating is also a wonderful way to get to know your body sexually; this is a great help when you have more to do with girls, as you already understand your own responses.

This is worth reading - be sure to read it ALL THROUGH, as the beginning is a bit confusing:

http://www.jackinworld.com/bios/bio233.h...

Jackinworld did a survey of its readers aged 11 to 19 and obtained the following results:

Average Masturbation Frequencies by Age:
11: 11.1 times per week
12: 9.4
13: 10.6
14: 10.6
15: 9.9
16: 9.6
17: 9.4
18: 8.5
19: 9.3

Remember these are averages - some will masturbate more often, some less. The average at 12 is 9.4 times a week - which would mean once every day, and twice on two of the days; but there's no need to be that exact!

When they first discover masturbation some boys do it 3 or 4 times a day for a while - the hormones that change a boy's body into a man's have a powerful effect on the sex organs. Really it's not possible to masturbate excessively - he will either get sore, or tired, or he won't be able to get an erection for a while. The body imposes its own limits. If masturbating interferes with other things he should be doing, tell him to just cut back a bit.

We all masturbate less as we get older - that happens automatically; once the hormones have done their job everything calms down.Health Question & Answer
