If it always grows back, what's the point in shaving?!

Question: If it always grows back, what's the point in shaving.?
This is really frustrating. As boys get older, they begin to grow mustache and beards. I've always had a mustache over the years, but I always looked better without the chin hairs and side burns that always come with it. This is kind of embarrassing, but I just now started to shave as often as I should. But every time I shave, it grows back quicker! Why does it do this.? If so, what can I do to reduce this.?Health Question & Answer

waxing would mean you could go for longer...

technically it doesn't grow back quicker when you shave it off... i'll explain

when a hair grows from scratch, from the follicle, it is tapered, its wide at the bottom and thin at the top, this makes it soft and flexible. then u drag a razor over your skin and chop this hair 3/4 of the way down. now its wide at the bottom and a big flat squared off top.

the hair continues to grow from the follicle, so the squared/wide bit is now what is coming back through the surface of the skin

this is why stubble is so sharp and rigid, it does not flex like arm hairs because it is wide all the way up, this also makes it more visible.

if you get it waxed it pulls the hair out by the root and forces it to grow again from scratch - this means it grows back in the correct tapered way, meaning it takes longer to eventually show through the skin, and when it does it is finer/harder to see because it is the thin bit at the top we see first.Health Question & Answer

If you get a wax, you'll never have to shave again. It isn't really masculine, but it would rid you of that hair.Health Question & Answer
