Question: Can humans live without their small intestine.?
My Granny went into surgery yesterday and they found that a blood clot had went to her small intestine and cut off blood supply to it and caused her small intestine to die. They said there is nothing they can do for that. Serious answers only and best answer.Health Question & Answer

I would suspect it was only a portion of the small intestine and that they can remove that section and sew the 2 ends together. The small intestine is where most of the absorption of water and nutrients take place so it would be difficult to think that a human could live without one. Best wishes to Granny and you.
