If you are entitled to dental treatment anywhere in the uk [now registration has been scrapped] can you...?!

Question: If you are entitled to dental treatment anywhere in the uk [now registration has been scrapped] can you....?

simply wait in a surgery for a slot to open up due to a cancellation..ie: is there anything to stop you doing this, if you are eager to see a dentist as soon as possible.?

also, as you are now entitled to treatment anywhere, am i correct in assuming that for this to be feasible, all dental record must be on an instantly accessible nhs computer database...to enable any dentist anywhere, to look through your history of dental treatmentHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
If you are desperate to see a dentist and you are entitled to free treatment (not many people are!) although everyone is entitled to NHS dental treatment then phone your local PCT for advice.

I don't think dental records are nationally available. The records are local to the practice.

It's a bit of a vicious circle, some practices won't take you unless you are dentally fit. To be dentally fit you need to see a dentist regularly.

I know this sounds stupid. But if there is a 'Shams Mo open' near you then you should go to see this dentist, there are amazing wherever you go like i go to one in my hometown and there orthodontist and they slot people in really quick. Health Question & Answer
