Is microwaving and/or boiling a toothbrush to kill bacteria safe, or does it release toxins from the plastic?!

Question: Is microwaving and/or boiling a toothbrush to kill bacteria safe, or does it release toxins from the plastic.?
Yahoo has an article today on the benefits of microwaving toothbrushes. However, some response indicate that it is a bad idea to put plastic in a microwave and then in your mouth, because the heat affects the plastic and makes it release something bad into your mouth. Is this a good or bad idea.? Please see the article and comments at http://www.yahoo.com/s/976461 or http://www.fitsugar.com/2339363.Health Question & Answer

You can safely bring a pot of water to a boil and then take it off the heat. Place your brushes in it, and let them sit for a while..... maybe 10 minutes or so. We do this once a week or so. It's just a part of our normal bathroom cleaning routine. We do it for convenience as our household is so busy. We barely have time to make it to a haircut let alone go to a drugstore.
The American Dental Association recommended this method some time ago to keep younger children brushing in poor communities. Many think nothing about spending 2.79 on a toothbrush. The truth is, some people desperately need every cent they have. It can buy a gallon of milk, or make one more meal for the week. Health Question & Answer
