Question: Has anyone had a bad experience with Aspen Dental.?
I got new dental insurance and went to Aspen because they took my insurance. The dentist told me that I needed a root canal, two crowns, and a total of 9 fillings. He was going to replace some of my old fillings. The "finance manager" quoted me $945 out of pocket after insurance and that was just for the root canal and the crown. They told me that my insurance benefit was $2500 when in fact it is only $1200/year. When I asked about a cleaning, I was told that I should wait until the following year so that my insurance benefit would be renewed and thus pay for it. My insurance allows two cleanings per year. I sought a second opinion and had the root canal done that day. How much did it cost me.? $5.00 copay and thats it. This dentist told me that a crown would never hold on this tooth and said it would be a waste of money. I went bac for a cleaning the following week ...they did a deep cleaning for $5.00. I am going back on Friday for another cleaning for $5.00. This dentist looked at my x-rays from Aspen and they were so light that he couldn't even read them. Feeling bad for me because insurance only pays for one set of x-rays per year, he did another set for free. He found one cavity only and said that as long as my other fillings aren't bothering me, he wouldn't want to replace them because the old style silver fillings are actually stronger than the new cosmetic white ones. I had a TERRIBLE experience with Aspen Dental. The only reason I went there in the first place is that they advertise "Low Cost Dental Work". and I'm on a fixed income, and I recently lost my dental insurance. They told me I needed 4 fillings, 2 extractions, 7 crowns, and extensive gum work. The estimate was over $8000!! I did have one tooth pulled there, but they didn't give me any antibiotics, so of course I got a severe infection and had to go to the Emergency Room at the local hospital for treatment. (And yes, I went back to Aspen 4 times before the hospital, and they told me the pain was normal). I went back to my old dentist, and only had 2 small cavities, a total of $300. also, the finance company they use is a MAJOR rip-off! They charge 11% interest PLUS a finance charge! And if you're payment is late, the interest goes to 29%! If you even see an Aspen Dental RUN, don't walk away! They are crooks!Health Question & Answer
i went there and they quoted me 1800 for a root canal and they said i needed two cleaning and 3 fillings and caps on my two front teeth needless to say it was extremely expensive so i just decided to go someplace else. where is the dentist you went to located and was it a chain or just an office.?Health Question & Answer

I agree with him about the silver fillings, I really hate the white ones, they are horrible. I don't go to aspen dental, but at my dentist all of my work caused 10,000.00. That is with 3 crowns and a bridge, root canal, a few cavaties, and some other work. I have not returned for the other work, and have only gotten the cavaties filled and one crown and bridge done. Everything else is going to have to wait. These days the charges are excrutiating. I am still paying for my crown and bridge, and I don't know when I will finish. Health Question & Answer
DON'T USE ASPEN DENTAL, THEY ARE A RIP OFF. I paid over $5000.00 for their top of the line dentures, and they look like crap. They won't make new ones and I don't know what else to do. I am a single person and am retired on a fixed income. So sad that these DR'S AND THESE FLY BY NIGHT COMPANY'S are able to get away with anything. DON'T USE ASPEN DENTAL,, THIS IS A AWFUL COMPANY AND THEY ARE RIP-OFF'S. BEWARE
