Thrush is yeast. And it happens when there is an overgrowth of the good germs virtually anywhere on the body, even in the mouth. It just happens sometimes. Has nothing to do with cleanliness. The doctor will just give him some antifungal and get rid of it.Health Question & Answer

hi girlfriend..
if there is no local cause for this it might be systemic ( anemia, god forbid HIV, or others) so he needs some tests by a dentist to rule out any dental problem and if everything was ok then he should see a physician.Health Question & Answer

Oral sex with someone who has a yeast infection.Health Question & Answer

sounds like a yeast infection of the mouth... it sounds gross but is easily possible.Health Question & Answer

It does not sound good.Health Question & Answer

Lots of possibilities. Oral sex, been sick and took antibiotics, undiagnosed immune system disorder/illness such as HIV or Lupus. Red and puffy isn't necessarily thrush. Thrush is most commonly detected by a white curd like coating that wipes away and leaves red inflamed sore tissue. Inflammation under or around the tongue can be a sign of gum problems or gum disease or a saliva gland problem. Best to see a dentist, but if he really has thrush and no cause he should get tested for HIV just to be sure. also, this can be mistaken for oral gonorrhea and clamydia. I am assuming he doesn't wear a denture, partial, or retainers all day long. Wearing these types of devices in the mouth all day long and especially 24/7 can allow for a yeast overgrowth.Health Question & Answer
