I was starting the computer and my thumb went completely numb.Then, it stopped being numb and started hurting at the joint of my thumb.Now, I have ice on it and it still hurts. Why does it hurt.? Why is this happening.?Health Question & Answer

I'm going to guess that when you were starting the computer you were probably pressing with some force on the button with the pad of your thumb.
I'm going to guess that the numbness was a result of the pressing, of which you may not have been aware how much force you were using on the button. The pain was a result of having the force bending your thumb backward into a slightly unnatural position.
Ice is good, but don't be surprised if the pain stays around for a day or so. You've heard of people hyper-extending their knees.? It can happen to other appendages, too. Don't worry, you didn't seriously injure yourself.

It could be corporal tunnel syndrome. It happens when you type to much, without having correct posture with you hands.Health Question & Answer
Sounds like carpal tunnel. I wear a thick cotton glove over my hand with the fingers cut out when I am at the keyboard. It keeps the hand warm and the ct doesn't flare up.Health Question & Answer
