Kidney stone passing or urinary tract infection?!

Question: Kidney stone passing or urinary tract infection.?
Hi all,

NHS direct are taking ages to call me back so I thought I would ask you guys for a bit of advice:

I went to the A&E on Monday night complaining of pains in my lower right back and was diagnosed with a kidney stone. I was kept in hospital overnight and a urine sample, blood test and CT scan were taken. I was told that there were traces of blood in my urine and that I had a kidney stone (about 3mm) in my right kidney. I was told that the stone should pass naturally and was given dihydracodeine tablets for the pain (with senna laxatives to help with the constipation). I was also given diclofenac suppositories. I was sent home on Wednesday evening. Over the lst 24 hours however it has become very difficult to finish urinating. The beginning and middle of urination is fine but I cant finish and I am left with a dull ache after urination. I dont know whether this is natural for when the stone is ready to flush itself out. Im not sure whether I should re-admit myself to the hospital or if this is a natural part of flushing the stone. Any advice is appreciated as I just cant finish my wee!ract infection.?Health Question & Answer

oh poor you! i would suggest you go see your GP as soon as possible...even if they do tell you it is normal, best just to do it sooner, just to be on the safe side! ive heard that passing kidney stones is really painful, i know someone who has experienced it, its been compared to childbirth! - sorry, you probably didnt want to hear that.
good luck!Health Question & Answer

The model died of a drug-resistant infection, not of a UTI. Stay calm. While you are waiting for your call, here is a kidney stone support group: http://dailystrength.org/c/Kidney-Stones... Check that out and maybe someone can relate to what you are experiencing.Health Question & Answer
