What should I do about my pulled leg muscle?!

Question: What should I do about my pulled leg muscle.?
I just started working out intensely about two weeks ago, and now the muscle in back of my right calf hurts so much. (It's the muscle you feel when you pull your heel up to your body). It happened four days ago and I really want to work out but I can't even walk without limping. I tried to stretch it out but it only seemed to make it worse.

How can I help it heal so I can stop limping and start exercising.? also, what should I do to stretch out this muscle specifically so this won't happen again.? Thanks!Health Question & Answer

When I pulled my thigh muscle i just relaxed for a couple of days before i began stretching again.
You should try to take it easy, and apply heat for 20 minutes 3 times a day. (I did this because i am an avid soccer player) after about a week or so of this you will start to feel better but after 4 days start stretching lightly.
to stretch - stand up and pull your heel towards your butt, since you well still be a little sore do not pull it all the way. This should hopefully help heal you.
to prevent this you should strech by touching your toes, sitting down and putting one foot in front and pulling the other one into you and reach to your toes. do this with your other foot also. If you want more stretches this is a good website

A good way to stretch that particular muscle, the gastrocnemius, it to stand on a door threshold, they are usually 1.5-2 inches high, and let your heel hang off. Gently lift yourself by the ball of your foot and then relax so that the heel dips below the level of the threshold. This stretches the plantar fascia and the achilles which in turn stretch the gastrocnemius. This is also a good stretch to use if you have heel spurs that cause plantar fascitis.

Go to webmd or mayoclinic.com for more tips on stretching and warm ups before exercise as well as exercises for target muscle groups.
