To be certified, I had to submit to a fingerprint scan, attend 40 hours of class room training and 10 hours of field training. For annual recertification, I must attend 12 hours of class room training each year.
I visit nursing homes and residential care facilities and investigate problems regarding patient care.
The primary responsibilities of the Long-term Care Ombudsman are:
- to advocate for residents of long-term care facilities
- to investigate complainst by residents of such facilities
