Help...Swollen gums...swollen lips..pain is spreading?!

Question: Help...Swollen gums...swollen lips..pain is spreading.?
My left upper gumline started to swell about a month ago. I have an old root canal there. Now the pain has spread to the roof of my mouth & the nose. 2 weeks ago my front upper teeth have become sensitive to hot / cold and the gum & lip there sometimes swell. The pain shoots up to the nostril, especially when I wake up. I had teeth whitening done by a dentist about 6 - 7 months ago. But everything was fine then...and no side-effects then. Could it be gingivitis / tooth abscess (due to old root canal) or side-effects of teeth whitening (had it done for the 1st time 7 months ago) .?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Most likely an abscessed tooth. You will have to get an antibiotic to clear it and then see your Dentist. Or see the Dentist first for the antibiotic, then go back when the swelling goes away. Don't know anything about teeth whitening, but it was seven months ago, so I figure something would've happened before this. I will have to stick with the abscessed tooth. Whatever you do, don't use any heat. That will spread the infection farther. Stick to cold drinks and get that antibiotic. Wishing you the very best and good luck with the swelling.Health Question & Answer

Sounds very much like an abscessed tooth. If it is the tooth with the root canal you will have to have it re-done. Please see the dentist soon as this infection could spread further cause serious problemsHealth Question & Answer
