Ok....I read this on Yahoo answers & I have bulging discs on my lower back...it worked for me.
Lay flat on your back ( hard surface/floor)
Get somebody to lift you up but your shoulder blades remain locked on the floor.
Person sways you side 2 side like a clock chime...
Relax your spine,
Let it release all the tension..........
Plus your head is Grounded so all the blood is going through your body
Continue for 5-7 mins....
Let me know how you feel!Health Question & Answer

Hi, I wouldn't suggest attempting to align your back by yourself. In fact, I wouldn't suggest allowing a chiropractor to be jerking around on your back either. I've had my share of back problems and chiro visits, out of desperation from the pain and I know how painful and unbearable back pain is. I would suggest seeing your doctor and describing what is going on, and ask for his/her advice regarding chiropractor visits. In my case, once I had the MRI done and the chiro saw all of the major disc herniations she didn't want to touch me afterwards. I'm just advising that you seek a physicians advice because if there are true serious problems the chiro visits may make them much worse. I've talked with many people, mainly with cervical misalighnments who have benefited greatly from chiros, but I personally believe that routinely popping joints around in the spine does more harm than good, and almost always require more visits because things are "popping out of place". Please seek medical advice and seek testing if you are experiencing spinal/disc herniations for these can lead to serious complications.

Health Question & Answer

Some chiropractors will recommend certain exercises that you can do to reduce or even eliminate your back problems. Many of them are similar to certain yoga postures and stretches.

If chiropractic has helped you in the past, you can do a twist and kick motion that might simulate the lower spine twist many chiropractors do. It is done by doing an exaggerated walking motion where you twist your arms and shoulders similar to how your arms swing when walking, except that as you take a step forward with your right leg, while your shoulders are twisting to the right, you stop short and kick your right leg out at the same time your arms and shoulders are being twisted in the opposite direction by the momentum of your arms.

The yoga equivalent of that is to lie on a flat surface where you more or less do the same twist as the chiropractor, but with your arms out straight to the sides, one leg straight and one leg bent about 90 degrees at the hip. The bent leg twists to the opposite side. Health Question & Answer
