Insomnia and always tired?!

Question: Insomnia and always tired.?
I have a stupid problem. I go to bed normal time. Wake up 1-2 hours after with insomnia. I toss and turn for 2 hours before going back to sleep. When I finally wake up for real I am still tired. I dont do much during the day, take care of my son, attend night classes. I should be tired.Health Question & Answer

You may have sleep apnea - where you wake you due to stop breathing temporarily during the night. You have to be tested at a sleep clinic for that. But first I would try changing my routine. Start a new routine or getting at least 20min per day of exercises (walking, aerobics, dancing, etc.) -Drink more water (up to 1/2 your weight in oz.-100 lbs-drink 50 oz water) - Don't eat after 8pm - and take a Tylenol PM on a night when you have 8-10 uninterrupted hours to sleep.
Don;t take the Tylenol PM every night - as it dries out your system, but it helps when you need a good night's rest. Night classes may be getting you wired at night, too - you're out, brain engaged, and have trouble ramping down to sleep.Health Question & Answer

Could have many causes...

Stress/depression.
Poor diet/dehydration.
Lack of exercise.
Anemia (lack of iron).
Eating too late at night (less than 3/4 hours before bed).

Make sure you eat well, exercise and manage any stress you've got. If sleep doesn't improve after a month or so (it'll take time for your body clock to sort itself out), then you'll have to see your doctor to pinpoint the cause. Good luck. =] Health Question & Answer
