Do i need to go get stitches? Cut open my finger and still bleeding?!

Question: Do i need to go get stitches.? Cut open my finger and still bleeding.?
I was pushing down the trash with my hand ot make it all fit in the bag to throw out and i slit my finger open on a tin can lid. Its at the top of my right fore finger, like right where the joint is before the nail and it goes almost across the whole side.

it bled and i cleaned it and stuff, but if i move my finger or apply pressure at all it starts bleeding again and even if i rest it ocntinues bleding then stops.

do i need stitches.? or will i be okay/Health Question & Answer

Answers:
bandage snuggly and quit messing with it. Each time you mess with it you disturb the clot trying to form to stop the bleeding. If it bleeds through the bandage, do NOT remove the old one, add another to the top and quit messing with it. Unless you slit in artery or hacked off half your finger and bone, it will close and heal, just quit messing with it. It almost sounds like you don't have it covered at all. Get a bandage on that thing and quit bending it.Health Question & Answer

well
1. it shouldn't be bleeding
2. it should keep bleeding for a little while when you put pressure on it
3. stitches depend on how wide the cut is or how deep, not how long it bleeds
4. i'm pretty sure you need to see someone before it gets infected, cause if it has been bleeding for 5 hours, something is wrongHealth Question & Answer

If you have not gone to the er. Don't go now.... There is a window of time that you can get stitched. and you missed it. Go to the drugstore and get some good antibacterial cleaner and some liquid stitch glue. The ER is for emergencies !! Health Question & Answer

Dude go to the ER and let them decide, if you have insurances. Once I cut the tip of my thumb off and I just wrapped it up for two weeks and it got better. I would trust the doctor though.Health Question & Answer
