Question: When you study how do you stop yourself from falling asleep.?

I am studying for 2 exams that i have at university. When i am reading the books it is soooo boring i continuously keep falling asleep. How do I stop myself from falling asleep.?Health Question & Answer

Try and have regular bed times/sleep each night so ur generally well rested. Get up and move around when u feel a sleepy spell coming on. Cold water with lots of ice in it....crunch on the ice (no calories)....nibbling certainly keeps me awake but yes, as above answer, watch the calories!! And don't be too comfortable. And if its really bad, talk to someone and have a laugh, I find that stimulates me again...phone call or in person depending where u r but don't get so involved in conversations u forget about ur study! happy reading!!Health Question & Answer

energy drinks work however there's a lot of caffeine and over time you get used to the intake of caffeine and become addicted somewhat (it's better than coffee because coffee's caffeine level changes based on the way it's brewed and type of coffee) other ways are a jolt of pain or a shock of some sort like very cold water to the face.

you can try the pain thing but be careful not to hurt yourself too bad
Energy drink idea is the best way or you can use soda as well (do not use any decaf types or coke zero they contain no caffeine)

if you want to use a more natural approach lemons and eating apples wake you up as well.

Ok i'd advise you not to sit in a couch or on a bed or anywhere else comfortable. Sit on a wooden chair, or another hard surfaced chair. Don't let yourself get too comfortable 'cos that why your probably falling asleep. If possible take off your shoes and socks. The cold on your feet will prevent you from falling asleep.Health Question & Answer

I have the same problem! This is what I do and don't do.

Don't study in bed, on the couch or anywhere really comfy. A straight hard chair or at a desk is best.

Don't load up on sugar or anything that will get you a energy high, cause when you come down you want to sleep.

Do drink a little coffee, but not much sugar.

Do stand and read at a counter if you get sleepy.
