Nicotine patches (packaging and cost)?!

Question: Nicotine patches (packaging and cost).?
I am going to be on a car trip with my family for two days and am a smoker. I do not wish to quit at this point, however I do not want smoke around them in such close quarters. I want to get a patch, but I really would only need about 2 of them. I have never bought patches before and was wondering what is the smallest size package they come in and around how much is it.? Please do not leave comments regarding the harmful effects of tobacco or you should just try quitting. Health Question & Answer

Patches just so you know will not take the edge off...and if you are a smoker who doesn't want to quit, you will probably want more than 2. You will probably wear more than one at a time. (and don't forget the trip home).

The glue and the nicotine made my arm sore like I had gotten a shot which nerved me up pretty bad because I am needle phobic.

And the vivid dreams warning is no lie. I felt like I needed to be in a psych ward...and they were nightmares.

Patches were a very hard go for me when I quit...I have tried all the over the counter nicotine and the most helpful for me was the lozenges. But you might have good luck with the gum too.

My suggestion is to get a can of Copenhagen or other smokeless tobacco. It isn't all about chewing and spitting, I have seen some little pressed candies that look like a tic tac. You will save yourself a little money and the tobacco products deliver full strength of nicotine where cessation products only offer 2-4 mg (per gum or lozenge) or 7/14/21 mg (per day) in a patch.

Whatever you get, get more than you need, and tuck it away for the next flight, bus or car ride, or when you need a smokeless option, or when you are ready to quit.

I do hope you consider quitting sooner than later.

I think it is a bad idea to get the patch if you don't plan on quitting. You don't want to smoke around your family but you probably will when you get a chance. If you smoke while on the patch it will probably initially cause you to vomit or be nauseous , it can raise your blood pressure to sky high, and increase your chance of having a stroke. I say just don't smoke around them. Go to a private place and have a cancer stick instead.Health Question & Answer

They only come in two sizes - enough for one week and enough for two weeks. The cost is anywhere from $25 - $50 depending on the brand. Let me recommend you spend a little extra and get a name brand like nicoderm. The off-brand don't work nearly as well.

Oh, and smoking while on the patch doesn't make you nauseous. I know this from experience. It just makes it hard to finish a whole cigarette. You can take a few drags now and then for the hand to mouth addiction.Health Question & Answer
