What shall I do with this cut on my hand?!
Question: What shall I do with this cut on my hand.?
This week I cut my hand with a saw by accident in college. I cut it quite deep, I washed the saw dust out of it straight away and it got bandaged up by a first aider at the college.
But obviously, being a man, as soon as I got out of college I ripped the bandage off. Now 2 days later (if you have just eaten I apolagise in advice and advise you to switch to another question!) it's scabbed over, but is constantly pussing out with yellow stuff.
The skin around the cut is swollen and quite red, it hurts a bit but not much.
Obviously it's infected but what do I do to clear it up.? Dont say go to the doctor/hospital because I will just ignore you... Being a man.Health Question & Answer

You are correct it is infected. This is nothing to fool with. Infection in a deep cut could lead to septicemia (blood poisoning) if left untreated. That is a life threatening condition. Forget the fact you are a man and the cost, get your butt to a doctor. The sooner the better! Sorry to be so blunt.Health Question & Answer
Does being a man automatically make you stupid as well.? You had a "dirty" wound to begin with so removing the bandage probably didn't help but may not have had a direct effect on what is going on now. You should get some good medical treatment and at the very least a tetanus shot. For the time being, a better soak is epson salts in hot water. also, just for the time being until you get to a doctor, use an antibacterial cream or ointment under your dressing. KEEP IT COVERED! The pus is full of germs and is nasty. Health Question & Answer
You an idiot for taking the bandage off. You are right it is infected and you will be an even bigger idiot if you don't go see your GP.
It will get even worse if you don't treat it then they will have to amputate your arm, it happened to my friend.Health Question & Answer

I think you should get it seen to , the first aider did put the bandage on it for a reason to prevent infection and promote healing . Taking the bandage opens it up to all kind of infections
Pleas see a doctor to be on the safe side.

just leave it, let the infection invade the rest of your hand, let it go gangrenous, have it amputated. then you can have a story to tell your grand children, about being a man afraid to go to the doctor.Health Question & Answer
