Tense muscle in shoulder won't relax, need suggestions!?!

Question: Tense muscle in shoulder won't relax, need suggestions!.?
The muscle in my left shoulder near my shoulder blade is so tense that it feels more like bone than muscle. I've tried alternating heat/cold and massage, and even went to a chiropractor, but she couldn't help, and it refuses to relax. It's making the muscles in my arm and neck tense up and my entire arm hurts. I's been getting consistently worse every day and now I can barely open a door or hold a coffee cup with my left hand. Any idea how to get this muscle to relax.?

*note* please no responses like 'go to a doctor' or 'get muscle relaxants', and especially no answers regarding marijuana. I just need an effective way to relax this one specific muscle!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
It sounds like a muscle spasm. That is your trapezius muscle and it runs along your shoulder blade and to the base of your neck. I had this problem before, and the doctor pushed down on the muscle for a minute or so to "tire it out." It helped a little bit, but mild muscle relaxers helped out a lot. If you are at the point that you can barely use it, it is time to get a professional opinion.Health Question & Answer

Chances are the over tense muscle is compensating for an injury to some other part of your body, so relaxing it will be the first step in a chain of interconnected problems.

Read and apply http://www.helium.com/tm/148271 to relax that muscle and then fix the under lying injury.Health Question & Answer
