Blood test questions?!

Question: Blood test questions.?
The doctor's office is closed for the day and I am just impatient to wait and call tomorrow...

I had some routine blood work done and my white blood cell count was a little High 11.5 and my lymphocytes were 19.8 which is a little low.

I also have chronic anemia. My iron saturation was 12 which is really low.

I know all about the iron and what the next step is but can anyone tell me more about the white blood cell count and the Lymphocytes.?

Thanks in advance!Health Question & Answer

The blood is a unique self regulating system. So that means if one cell, say a Neutrophil is high, then another cell, say a Basophil will have to be low, in order to be able to make up the Complete white cell count. We all know how many 1% make 100%.
11.5% white cell count is just a little high, nothing to worry about and that can be the results of anything. Infection, menstrurating, running, swimming, exercise, even down to the food you ate before the blood test, let alone being nervous about the blood test, or worried about the blood test. The Lymphocytes are a little low, so another one of the cytes, probably Monocytes should be a little high. Have a look at the blood test paper and you should see the Monocytes.
The Lymphocytes are your immune system, they are the cells that react to Virus rather than bacteria infections. They are also the cells that remember what infection you have had, what vaccination you have had and when called upon can attack and kill. So if you had your Polio vaccination it was the Lymphocytes that mounted a attack, killed the vaccine and will always remember that invader and know it is a invader. Once the virus has been killed, the Monocytes are the cells that are the undertaker. They take the dead bugs and bury them, or get them out of the system via the kidneys. So the chances are you had a viral infection previously and now the attack is over and you are in the recovery mode. Hope that helps.
My white cell count is 18% and my Lymphocytes are 40%, but then I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, a autoimmune condition where my own Lymphocytes have forgotten what are invaders and what are me, so the attack goes on and on and on and on.Health Question & Answer
