Really worried...swollen lymph node in base of neck?!

Question: Really worried...swollen lymph node in base of neck.?
Shortly after getting the flu shot, I noticed I had a hard bump under the skin of my neck near the base on the left side (got the shot in left arm). Now, about 1.5 weeks later, it's stil there but smaller. I can't really move it but i can move the skin over it back and forth...it's hard to explain. I keep hearing and reading lymphona all over the place, it's really freaky!!

I will show my doc next time i go if it's still there (i go for follow ups for medication often).

Has this happened to anyone else, is it normal.?.?

Answers:
It is very normal.

When your sick, or when you get a vaccine, your lymph nodes swell because they release lymph fluid which I believe helps fight infections.

And because the flu shot is a virus, it makes sense.

(a vaccine is a weaked virus. What it does is make your body produce the apropriate 'fighter cells' to keep the virus at bay. Thats how they work)

But, I would talk to your doctor about it. Just incase.
