Question about a black eye and broken blood vessel in the eye!!!!!!?!

Question: Question about a black eye and broken blood vessel in the eye!!!!!!.?
i was playing basketball 2 days ago and my friend drove hard, and the top of his head hit my left eye and left both of us dazed for a few minutes...after i felt i was alrite and could play, i decided 2 open my eye fully, but i couldnt because it was all swollen up (at my eyebrow) but it wasnt really dark and when i touched my swollen eyebrow, it didnt hurt a lot...i put some ice on it a few hours later for about a half hour and the next day i woke up, the swelling went down, but my eye actually got a little bit darker (i think, the previous day i wasnt paying attention to my eye so i didnt really notice) and i put some more ice on it, and now today the darkness, or blood, is moving (the corner of my left eyelid is dark when it wasnt the day before)...and today, i also noticed that i have a broken blood vessel in the corner of my left eye which is only noticeable if i look at my nose (with my left eye) and someone else is looking at my eye...i was shopping at the mall when my mom noticed it, and we went to the local CVS pharmacy and asked the pharmacist and he said that it should be alrite (the broken blood vessel)...y is my black eye getting worse and how long should it take 2 heal and how long should my broken blood vessel take to heal.? thanks for reading this :)Health Question & Answer

Ouch! Your black eye is going to turn all kinds of wonderful colors including green, yellow, shades of blue as the soft tissue heals and the injured vessels heal. As you notice, the swelling is following gravity.

If you can sleep with your head elevated on pillows for a few days it will help the swelling to go down. You can continue to apply a cold compress, a bag of frozen peas is a better alternative to ice and more comfortable. Try 10 minutes gently placed a few times a day. The
discloration will begin to fade after about 5 days.

The broken blood vessel in your eye will heal very quickly, usually about 3 days. People can get these from sneezing! They are painless and just look scary. As long as your vision is OK, everything will heal fine.

Headaches can be expected and best treated with tylenol (acetaminophen) or Advil. Aspirin may delay the healing process.
