Can I be charged with insubordination if I was off duty and under influence of pain medication from injury?!
Question: Can I be charged with insubordination if I was off duty and under influence of pain medication from injury.?
I had just left the ER because of a foot injury. My girlfriend needed help from the local agency so we went. I am with the county sheriffs dept and we went to the city police dept. When they found out I was a deputy, desite we were there for her, they antagonized me for not addressing them properly even though I was off duty. They called a higher rank from my dept to come up there, not sure why. They (from my agency and the police dept) are all writing me up for insubordination and conduct unbecoming. I was on pain medication and not sure if that makes a difference or not. I don't see how they can do this when I went there off duty. I have a spotless history as a deputy, a flawless file, but the other LEOs charging me do not. Do I have any defense or am I screwed.? Any suggestions of sources to look for good info to help me.? I would fight this, because you were off duty and on pain medication. I would also point out your flawless history however you will still probably have to apologize because PO's get off on the authority.Health Question & Answer
I work Tues-Sat. and if I went to my office "on pain meds" to lets say get a file I needed on a Monday and the company new I was doped up I am sure I would be written up if not fired. So in your case why didn't you stay in the car.? Health Question & Answer
If it is what you say, insubordination is that as it is_weather you were on/off duty, for what purpose maybe out of the picture. The other thing is you need to get yourself a solicitor quick.Health Question & Answer
