Can I take benadryl with pain medication? ?!
Question: Can I take benadryl with pain medication.? .?
Answers:
Benadryl is an antihistamine. It is one of the oldest on the market, but also has the unfortunate side reaction of causing drowsiness; probably moreso than any other. In fact, the drug in its generic form (diphenhydramine HCL) is often used in over-the-counter sleep medications (Sominex, etc.). But it is best used for countering systemic allergic reactions.
HOWEVER, IT IS A POTENTIATOR when taken with pain relieving drugs (makes the effect of that drug stronger than it otherwise would be). Therefore I stronly advise you NOT to take Benadryl with pain medications. See your doctor.Health Question & Answer

Yes, ask the doc, or call your pharmacist at least... I know benadryl causes drowsiness, and so does pain medicine usually, so it may be too much.Health Question & Answer
Read the leaflet that came with the medication, or at least consult a pharmacist or doctor if the information you require is not there.
