If you're waiting around for god to help you to stop, I think that may take a while. You need to be an active participant with your addiction. God helps those who help themselves. It sounds to me as though you are very frustrated and are looking for a "magic pill" or any other form of outside help. This is something that you have to do for yourself. The twelve step programs are great. They are a very supportive and helpful tool to help rid yourself of any form of addiction. They also all involve dealing with a higher power or God, but their reasoning for this is not for people to sit around and wait to be cured. It sounds as though you could use more intensive therapy for a while in addition to the twelve step program.Health Question & Answer

To bring God into this conversation, here is one lesson not many christians will ever tell you. God will only give you an opportunity to do whatever is that is needed to be done. God never gives things away, he doesn't remove fat or gives people riches, it's the opportunity. Your opportunity was when you stop eating that stuff for a week, then started back up. Once you stop eating that stuff, don't even think about touching that stuff. Oh, and go for a jog.Health Question & Answer

Dude... I know completely how you feel... I'm not addicted to food, but I have been fighting a pornography addiction for close to 6 years.... It's tough.... Remember, God never gives us more than we can handle; just rely on him and try your hardest....

also remember, the biggest lie that you or anyone can tell yourself is that you don't have the strength to conquer your addiction... You can do it.... I will be praying for you....Health Question & Answer

Sometimes we can't just wait for things to happen, whether we believe God will deliver us from them or not. We have to take action, and at least begin to fight our own battles to prove ourselves to him.

You've done very well to stop the bingeing and over-eating. What you should do next is identify the main sources of sugar and flour in your diet, and slowly wean yourself off of them. Read up about them on the internet, find healthy alternatives, and give yourself a time period - say, four months.? - to dramatically cut back.

Write out rough meal plans, lessening the amount of sugar and flour slightly each week, and do your best to stick to them. Find slightly healthier snacks which might help stop cravings and eat them in small portions regularly - a couple of times a day. Low-fat biotic yoghurt (you can get all different flavours), celery sticks dipped in a small amount of peanut butter, a slice of wholegrain toast with a small amount of low-fat topping are all good ideas.

Start eating a decent breakfast - try a small bowl of unsweetened, unflavoured oatmeal (the sweetened types have far more sugar than you would think) with a little honey (a better substitute for sugar) and a handful of raisins, and a banana.

also, try to watch what you drink. Things like fruit juices are slightly better than softdrink and milkshakes and cordial, but still have far more sugar than the companies producing them would have you believe. Try drinking just one glass, or two, a day.

When eating out, look at what you would normally choose from the menu and then choose something even just a little better.

Drink plenty of water (two litres a day) as it fills you up and helps cleanse the system.

Remember that you don't have to do this all at once - try phasing in one or two new things a fortnight.

If you ever find yourself having a relapse, and you're halfway through a block of chocolate or whatever, just stop, spit out the mouthful you're chewing, throw the rest out, and don't blame yourself too much. Move on and look to the future.

Eventually you will find yourself feeling better than before. You just need to take slow, but steady, steps until then. You don't have to massively overhaul your eating habits and start eating nothing but lettuce from this second on (obviously it won't work) and you don't have to cut out everything you love completely. Just focus on improvement.

Good luck.Health Question & Answer
