If you are having suicidal thoughts and tell them, there is almost a 100% chance of a psych consult plus possible involuntary commitment (if you won't agree to sign yourself into the hospital) because you would be considered 'a danger to yourself'. Your best bet is to call and speak with a psychiatrist if you aren't comfortable with a meeting in person. They are the only ones who can prescribe the medication. My friend was a cutter, and found out she was bipolar. She is now taking a mood stabilizer and is doing great. You really need to talk to somebody, though, a.s.a.p. Cutting is no joke.Health Question & Answer

I have been suffering from very bad depression and anxiety the past several months yet has been improving. I can understand if you have suicidal thoughts and want help for it. I did as well, but dont end up thinking that just taking the average anti-depresants will help you. Many of them may take 2 weeks to begin kicking in and maybe some side-effects will begin effecting on you as well.(I got insomnia). If you want i can tell you my life story so far (im 15) which is pretty bad and hopefully may comfort you or something. Just send me a message if you do.Health Question & Answer

First of all you should tell someone who is close to you about your thoughts. I do not want to say anything that will deter you from seeking help. If you go to the E.R the decision made is based on your suicidal ideation, this means that you will receive treatment depending on your suicidal thoughts and your intent. I hope you find this information useful and I hope you know you are doing the right thing by seeking help.Health Question & Answer

If you go to the ER with suicidal thoughts and self-harm, it's about 99% sure that they will set you up with a psych consult which might not be a bad idea. Your other options would be to see your family doctor - he could either subscribe anti-depression meds or set you up with a psychiatrist.Health Question & Answer
