Why do I procrastinate and not sleep at night, and how can I fix it?!
Question: Why do I procrastinate and not sleep at night, and how can I fix it.?
I'm in my second year of university, and I have commitments at 7 or earlier every morning, yet I don't ever go to bed before midnight, usually it's later than 1 or 2 am before I finally go to bed. I always just seem to have something else to do at the time, not work though, just pointless things that seem important at the time.
I also put off schoolwork given in advance by doing the same thing, and I want to stop this, and finally put effort into it, but I just can't seem to do it.
Is there anyone that has suggestions as to how to fix my lack of sleep and effort.?Health Question & Answer

congratulations, you're normal.
i'm in college as well, and i have found that i tend to get motivated by failure but grow complacent from moderate successes. once you realize that you're doing it, you will see the folly of it all.
start by having a little weekly schedule that lays out all your hw assignments and other important things to do. then write down which days you will do what. once you get into the habit of it you will feel bad not sticking to your schedule and all you will find yourself suddenly relieved.Health Question & Answer

Until you reset your natural clock, try a benadryl when you are ready to go to bed, or talk to your doctor about sleep meds. Over time, you will reset your circadian rhythm.
As for the schoolwork, that is a little harder. One method that may work is a work/reward system. Choose a reward for each item on your to do list. For example, if you finish that paper for your English class before 10, you can watch that episode of Greek you recorded. Then go to bed, or move on to the next one, whatever your sleep schedule allows.Health Question & Answer

start making lists of the things you need to do so when you can't sleep you have something that you can focus on.
when you start to cross things off of your lists you'll feel a sense of accomplishment and want to do more to keep that feeling.
