What effect will Autism have on my Daughter ?!

Question: What effect will Autism have on my Daughter .?
I think my daughter may have autism, due to answers in my other question, i looked it up and they really do match.

What effect will Autism have on my daughter in school, university and working life as she grows up .? She's 14 and in year 10.

I'm really worried, as I know she is very clever and wants to take on psycology in university. She likes routine and watches the same things on t.v at sort of, close times. She eats the same food every day and if i try to give her something else she will kick off.

She's really shy and only talks to some teachers in school and a few friends, it's like she doesn't trust many people. She's recently had trouble with a boyfriend because she couldn't look at him and wouldn't talk to him properly, he had enough and dumped her, she took this out on herself and seemed depressed.

I really want her to be happy.

Hi there, don't self diagnose your child with autism. Autism is detected from the age of three, take her to the doctor, or a some sort of child therapist and talk to them, they will be able to give you a definite answer, and help on what to do, that is if there is something to be detected. Teenagers go through a form of autism, its the moody, wont leave their room phase, which is when their brain is reaching developed point.
My little brother has asperger's, and we don't treat him any differently than we would if he didn't have autism. he sometimes need more attention but at the end of the day it all helps him to get on in life.
Autism shouldn't be viewed as something that will ruin anyone's life. It just show they are very intelligent people and learn to work with their condition. If you help your daughter, teaching her valuable life lessons as soon as possible, then when she is of an age when she needs to handle the world on her own she will manage a lot better. Don't treat her like she is incapable, because she very much is, she might need a helping hand sometime from someone she trusts.
There are groups that she could go to where there are other people with the same issues, which they deal with together, and help each other along, you could try those with her too.
But please take her to a doctor so she can be diagnosed properly, because he can help you and her with it too.

My best friends little brother is 10 and has Pervasive Development Disorder, a form of autism, and he seems perfectly fine at first glance, he gets frustrated easily though, and doesnt reconise tones of voice, but he seems to be coping okay. He is very good at science and wants to be a marine biologist. If your daughter does have autism she can get help throught her education, and its all redily availible. You just need persistance.
At the end of the day she's still your little girl and nothing can change that. Health Question & Answer

Talk with the school psychologist - you aren't qualified to diagnose her yourself, and you may end up doing more harm than good by asking the nimrods of the internet what to do.

If she does have autism, then it doesn't change anything... whatever syndrome/disorder/disease you name, she's the same person.

Again, talk to the school psychologist, and get a professional evaluation.Health Question & Answer

Autism affects children in diffrent ways. It depends how extensive the autism is.
My newphew (6) is autistic. He eats the same everyday, is only close and comfortable around certain people and repeats his actions too but dont listen to anyone on here. Get the right advice, from a professional.
Just because your daughter may have a disabilitiy doesnt mean anything has to change.
Just go with the flow xoHealth Question & Answer
