Sudden onset of apathy and dissociation?!

Question: Sudden onset of apathy and dissociation.?
So,I've suffered from Depression since I was about 13, and usually it comes and goes staying for long periods of time and leaving for a short while. But for the past 3-4 months I've been experiencing severe apathy, and I have trouble paying attention to anything without zoning out, which is very unlike me.Usually I am very attentive, but everything has just been hazy lately, and sleepy feeling.Like a dream or something.

I also feel like I'm away from myself,if that makes sense.? Like I'm still within my body but I'm separate from my brain.I tend to just stay in this bizarre state constantly, and I can't get the real and immediate sense of life no matter what I do.Nothing feels real,or honestly important to me.

I'm sleeping well (other than bizarre dreams, which is nothing new for me),I haven't had any recent trauma in my life....other than the normal junk.

What the heck is wrong with me.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Yep, Yep and Yep. I've felt that way so many times it's not even funny,
But you know what.? You sound as if you have a god idea what's going on in your own mind! Just read your own post! There aren't a lot of people who are as self-aware as you are.
Feeling "away" from yourself makes perfect sense. It may worry you, but being able to see that you're dissociating is a real plus. It shows that you really are NOT seperate from your brain - quite the opposite.

It would seem that your tendency to dissociate comes from a lack of self-esteem. Your post shows that you are an intelligent person, and there is no reason that you should worry.

There is nothing the heck wrong with you. It's just that no-one's taught you yet.
Just try to notice what's going on around you, breathe, feel, smell what's happening. You'll see it. Promise! Yes, there's all kind of junk happening but the only important thing is how you REACT to it.

Life DOESN'T suck, unless you let it.
Yes you can get the immediate sense of life, just be more mindful (Google it).
Maybe what I've done Is try to give you a bunch of easy answers,; there ain't any. But you are obviously intelligent enough to know a proper answer from the rest.

Like I said before - there's nothing wrong with you. You have a good idea what's going on with you and that's admirable! Try to find a counsellor that can help you steer your way to where you want to go.Health Question & Answer

That's actually quite normal for depression. your mind is just saying that it has had enough and "whats the point any more". This could lead to suicidal thoughts as well but it also depends on the severity and what type of depression you have. also, are you taking medication.? have you stopped taking medication.? There are many factors that could go into this, but in the short term all I can suggest is that you do something to make you happy. That sounds hard in the state your in, but surround yourself with something that you like. As your self what you like. The best type of thing for this is a sort of "childish joy". You should go to a playground, do something out of the ordinary and eat icecream with sprinkles and wear all pink. If you dont wear hats start doing it on the weekend it will make yourself feel like a different person which will make your mind feel connected to "you" or "the real world " again. Because it won't be a "who cares" but .."Hmm this is different...?" Feeling. a bubbly feeling. Just try to be creative and it could really help. Health Question & Answer
