Answers:
I personally hate the stuff. I have found adderall to be more effective and have less side effects. Vivanse is a new medication that is similar to Adderall, but have not had any personal experience with. Ritalin acts on the brain in a similar manner as cocaine and does not have the duration of Adderall, which leads to an acute pattern of dosing and severe crashing which is unbearable, largely due to the anxiety and feelings of depression (these go away after stopping the medication). So, if you have anxiety I would advise against Ritalin and ask your doctor about your options as far as controlling your ADD. Be cautious of stimulant medications though; they have their upsides, but are addictive and may take you down a road that you wish you had not taken and can cause anxiety even with traditional anti-anxiety medications (i.e. Valium, Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, etc.) For what it's worth, I have been on various anti-anxiety and ADD meds and would not have started either knowing what I do now. ADD sucks...but be careful and know what you are getting into to before you are educated on the meds. Health Question & Answer
