Why do I feel terrified when I'm happy, and comforted when I'm miserable?!

Question: Why do I feel terrified when I'm happy, and comforted when I'm miserable.?
Answers:
i feel the same way, i always say that people get comfortable in their misery. you get afraid of being happy because you dont want something bad to happen and have all that happiness taken away. you would rather just stay sad so that if something bad happens, you don't have much farther down to go, and its a lot easier to take if you're already sad. its a much larger drop if youre happy.. it's ironic though, isn't it. all you want is to be happy but you're too scared to actually get there.Health Question & Answer

Most likely it stems from your childhood. You may have been punished when you were having a lot of fun (making a lot of noise) You soon got the message that quite (unhappy) equaled comfort because you didn't get in trouble. Talk to a professional or to a true friend. Talking about problems seem to minimize their importance in our life. Good Luck and God Bless You Health Question & Answer

people get used to being miserable, so when you're happy you feel like something bad is going to happen. but as long as something bad is happening you're ok cause you're thinking whatever bad thing could happen is already happening. Health Question & Answer
