Why do we have 'sleep jerks'?!
Question: Why do we have 'sleep jerks'.?
That's when you twitch when you try to fall asleep. You get this falling sensation and just twitch. I know it's normal, I just want to know the reason behind it.Health Question & Answer

It's been explained to me this way: as you fall asleep, your blood pressure drops, and your heart rate slows. The oxygen supply to your brain drops, and your brain interprets this as that the body is "dying." Your brain sends a sudden impulse to your body in an attempt to kick-start it.

The jerks you are mentioning is called "Myoclonus" in medical terms.
Though it might sound scary, it is absolutely normal occuring in few people.Sleep myoclonus occurs during the initial phases of sleep, especially at the moment of dropping off to sleep.
