I think the best thing to do is to respond to the person that you care about them, and hear their despair. Tell them to call 911 to get help, or to call their local crisis line. Sometimes just knowing that someone cares enough to direct them to get help will stop someone from going ahead with the suicide. Health Question & Answer

Yeah you can report their answer but they won't do anything about it.
For all anyone knows it can be a troll. Just mind your own business, do not call the police. Not only is it a waste of time it is an invasion of privacy if for some weird reason your local police have nothing better to do than take it up.
People have the right to vent (or joke) online anonymously, without the police turning up and having a record of everything they said.
Do you see how fast the mental health section moves.? Hundreds of questions an hour. Saying mostly the same thing. I am suicidal etc.
There are probably a million suicidal people pondering killing themselves right now. It's not the police 's job to go out and see if they're all okay. It's not even possible.
Did you also know that personal psychologists/psychiatrists in sessions with patients do not even take suicidal talk seriously unless the person basically says "i'm going to do it on wednesday at 9pm in my room by _______ myself with a ______" and even then they need proof of erratic behaviour (not just words) and even then the most they can do is hold them for 3 days. Then they are released and can go kill themselves the next day.Health Question & Answer

Police I think, they'll track the person from their computer. They may not do anything about this, and M.C's answer is true. That people have the right to say things without the police showing up. But who would joke about something like that.?
