Will long term extended use magnifying spectacles or other magnifiers damage my eyesight?!

Question: I am slightly short sighted but I do not wear contacts or spectacles normally.

Thanks!

Answer:
"No."

While there is debate on whether wearing (-) power glasses (for correcting nearsightedness (aka "short sight")) could affect your eyes, there's no concern with magnifying lenses.

Your eye can accomodate (focus) in the presence of (-) lenses, hence a debate that your eye can grow differently due to prolonged focusing. However, the eye cannot relax more than its relaxed state. Thus, the eye does not react when (+) power is place in front of it. It will just "see" differently, no longer able to see as far away.
