Smoking can reduce your potential height growth by a whole inch.Health Question & Answer
yes it can and it can kill you faster f you continuously smoke(lung cancer, common sense).
if you are actually listening in health class you will know that smoking can be very addictive and all the cons to it. that's why one must not start especially at such a young age. right now i bet your parents are supporting your habit(defiantly w/out their knowledge), what will you do when you get older, a pack of cigarettes are very expensive, you may only be smoking one a day but you will probably get to the point where you will need two packs a day, they'll be what, 20 bux a day.. You'd better listen to your friend.Health Question & Answer

Don't listen to the cigarette haters... the only possible way smoking can make you shorter is if you're very old and it's contributed to osteoporosis. However, I don't think that cigarettes cause any kind of reduction in height. I'm a smoker and I'm 5'11'' and smoking never made me short. On the other hand, it will murder your lungs and make you smell funny. But if you're willing to deal with the health risks it's your decision. Just remember, the legal smoking age is 18. Stop no... Impair .. yes..... Several studies have shown that cigarette smoke reduces IGF-1 release and receptor activation. What this means is that you will be slightly shorter than what you would have been otherwise. How much, however, is difficult to tell, but it was estimated in the studies to be about a 13% reduction in standard height...
Keep in mind, however, that this is highly variable from person to person in addition to how much you smoke.

I am not sure if it stunts growth, but it destroys your lungs, impairs brain activity, makes your teeth yellow, your breath smell horrible, etc. I would stop smoking if it stunts growth or not.Health Question & Answer
