Why do some people say that chiropractors are not doctors?!
Question: Why do some people say that chiropractors are not doctors.?
Answers:
They don't all have a Philosophical Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Chiropractic (or Doctor of Chiropractic, DC, in Canada). Many practice with a Bachelor or Masters in Science. None are technically 'medical doctors', as they do not (with a few exceptions I'm sure) a Medical Doctorate (M.D.).
Really, the problem is that people associate the word doctor with traditional MDs. That isn't to say they arn't competent, or that chiropractic is not effective. It's just a technicality mired in politics.Health Question & Answer

because they are not. Doctors, Medical Doctors, go to school for a much longer time than chiropractors and study real medical topics. They are licensed by the state as medical doctors to write presciptions and perform surgery.
Since the context is medicine, it is obvious people mean medical doctors.Health Question & Answer

A doctor is someone who holds a doctorate in some subject, not necessarily a medical subject. People who claim that someone with a doctorate isn't a doctor are either ignorant or sloppy. (Sloppy because they mean "not a medical doctor", but they say just "not a doctor". "Medical doctor" means someone with a doctorate in medicine.)Health Question & Answer
