There is an over the counter test to see what type of infection you have.Health Question & Answer

Sounds like a yeast infection.

If this was your first one, you should have gone to the gynecologist to have it diagnosed as one. Many people just assume its a yeast infection and then they go and treat it as such and it turns out to be a different sort of infection. You do not want to use yeast infection medication if you do not have a yeast infection because the body gets used to it, thus becoming less and less effective each time you use it.

But yes, if you have a yeast infection and you use the external stuff it's uncomfortable burny and itchy. It'll start to feel better within 4-5 days.Health Question & Answer

The three day treatment may be too harsh for vaginal tissue if you have a severe infection. You could switch to Monistat 7 if it's too much for your skin.
Burning or irritation from the cream is a very common side effect. If it doesn't get better in a few days you should see your doctor just to confirm it is a yeast infection. Health Question & Answer

You could have a different kind of infection. If that treatment isn't working try getting Monistat vaginal infection test. However you may just not be using the right treatment. You could try using a different treatment... typically internal treatments are best.Health Question & Answer

if you tried the OTC stuff and it isn't "attacking" the problem - it may be time to see a dr, and see if there is something else going on :-(Health Question & Answer
