How did YOUR labor start? Induced? Water break? Contractions?!

Question: I'm 35 weeks pregnant and 2-3cm dilated with on and off braxton hicks contractions and loss of mucus plug. This is my 5th baby. I'm just curious as to how other people's pre-labor and active labor progressed. What was yours like?
Answers:
1st baby - induced with pitocin suppository two weeks late. Waited a day, labor started fairly slow, six hours of labor, five pushes, and out came a 6 1/2 lb. baby

2nd baby - she was a miscarriage at 5 months, so it was a three hour labor only, but very painful.

3rd baby - days of strong contractions, but not regular, only about ever half hour. Went on for a check up, and was 8cm, dilated (should have seen the panic there!) Rushed to the delivery room, and eight hours of contractions every ten minutes (yes, even during pushing) and finally the baby came. His head was turned sideways. 7 1/2 lbs and one day early

4th baby - mild contractions through the day, stronger at night, but 10 hours of labor, fairly painless, then delivery was HARD - baby had to be turned and it broke my tailbone. I passed out and did not remember tha actual birth. also 7 1/2 pounds and two weeks late.

5th baby - now I was nervous. Absolutely no pain in the day, but I began to get really nervous and anxious, phoing my husband every few minutes. (He worked at the hospital) Finally, the nurses he worked with told me to get in there even though I had no contractions. I went, and it hit like in the movies - doubled over pain. Easy labor, easy delivery - one push and the baby was out! I had a hard time convincing the nurses at first that they should admit me since my contractions would not show up when I was lying down. Finally, I told them that this is my FIFTH and I do know that this baby is coming tonight. They made me walk, so I walked straight to the cafeteria since I was hungry and ate a grilled cheese. (I know you shouldn't) The nurses in the cafeteria came over and told me it looks like the baby is about to come, please goback to family birthing. I smiled sweetly and told them the nurses there didn't think I was in labor! She was 7 1/2 punds and three days early.

My advice - start with the fifth! But really, there is no way to judge from one to another what it will be like. Everyone told me that the first is the hardest, longest, and it will get easier. It didn't. But the fifth was really easy , although she was eight hours, still.

my water broke. i was only dilated to 2. I had a long rough one. 15 1/2 hours. Good luck to you, hope you do well and the baby is fine.
congratulations on your new baby ..i was one of the lucky ones i was in labour for 6 hours with my first and 1 hour with my third and with all my pregnancys i went into hard labour right away ..i had no pre labour .it all happened so fast ..good luck to u and the baby
With my first I was induced. I was only in labor for 4 hours.right now i am 34 weeks with number 2 and in preterm labor.on bed rest right now. I am dilated 2cm, lost plug, and contractions. This one is much different from the first.

Good luck with yours!
I was in hard labor 24 hours then they broke my water and my daughter nearly flew out.
had to be induced both times never would go into labor myself both babies over 9lbs over 20hours of labor for both it sounds like you might be going to go a little early good luck with your new life GOD BLESS
I was going to be induced with my 1st because I was leaking amniotic fluid for a few days but I went into labor the night before the appointment. Baby did not want to come out so they gave me pitocin (spelling?) so I guess I was induced anyway!

With my second, I woke up at 2 AM in hard labor with NO pre-labor symptoms at all. I had her at 8 AM.

My water never broke with either really. With the first I had a tear only.
