What's the best way to cure strep throat when antibiotics are unavailable?!

Question:
Answers:
I am prone to strep throat when I get stressed out and run down. One year I was finishing my 4th round of antibiotics, when an acquaintance who works in a health food store recommended that the minute I get the sore raspy throat to eat a whole raw pineapple in 24 hours. If my throat was still sore, to eat another one again in 24 hours. I have not had to go on antibiotics again. Also, in the last 2 years I have only had a sore throat once! It has worked for every person I know who has just a sore throat or relentless cough that has come with a cold.

Other Answers:
gargle in warm salt water (salt helps clear up the flem and stuff built up) lots of fluids and plenty of sleep.
gargo salt and water
Gargle with warm, salt water. Antibiotics are only supposed to be taken if you have a fever.
It can be fatal. See an MD.
Well if it truly strep throat, you need an antibiotic or it will turn into a more serious illness and you can have very serious side effects! If it is just a sore throat, go for the gargle.
I was told by a friend that when he has tonsillitis or strep throat he buys ampicillin at the tropical fish store. He's been using it for years and has never had any bad reactions. They sell 500 mg capsules for use in aquariums.
If you do not have fever then it is most likely NOT strep and just a common sore throat worsened by cough and dry mouth. But if you do have fever and it is strep then it will NOT go away unless you take antibiotics. If this is a child we are speaking of then antibitics are a necessity. Children with untreated strep can be put at risk for Rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, kidney disease and blood disease.
Do you mean Pharyngitis or commonly called sore throat? is a painful inflammation of the pharynx, and is colloquially referred to as a sore throat. Infection of the tonsils, tonsillitis (American English: tonsilitis) may occur simultaneously.

The major cause is infection, of which 90% are viral, the remainder caused by bacterial infection and rarely oral thrush (fungal candidiasis e.g. in babies). Some cases of pharyngitis are caused by irritation from agents such as pollutants, chemicals, or smoke.

The treatment of pharyngitis will vary according to the cause:

1. Iodine compounds sold as Betadine or TCP can be gargled to shorten the duration of the infection. These compounds are effective anti-viral agents.
2. Lozenges (cough medicine) are often used for short-term pain relief.
3. Gargling with warm salty water is a popular household remedy, although there is only anecdotal evidence this gives anything other than temporary relief and likewise for the use of aspirin gargles.
4. Warm tea or soup can help temporarily alleviate the pain of a sore throat.
5. Analgesics such as NSAIDs can help reduce the pain associated with a sore throat.
6. Cold beverages and popsicles numb the nerves of the throat somewhat, alleviating the pain for a brief time.
7. Mouthwash (when gargled) reduces the pain but only for a brief time and lastly,

Antibiotics are only helpful when a bacterial infection is the cause of the sore throat. For bacterial sore throats, antibiotics have been shown to only affect the degree of pain by day 4 and shorten the average natural duration by 16 hours overall (In one case, 14 people need be treated for a week to reduce the duration by one day)
