It is most likely because of the sick people, germs in the air, and various medicines or chemicals they have there. Have you ever had any of those medicines that smell horrible when you're about to swallow them? thats the most probable reason i can think of. Doctors' offices have many different chemicals in them for major or minor surgeries and just taking care of people

Because everyone is nervous as heck.sweating up a storm, and if you have ever noticed, when people are sick (why they are probably at the Dr to begin with) they sometimes smell "funny"...
I'm a nurse, and you have to visualize the number of the general public (old, young). (bathing individuals, non-bathing individuals, poor hygiene individuals) that sit where you are sitting. The odors sort of create a melting pot of funk that sticks around for centuries. Pine Sol please?
Not all of them do but a lot of them do and it is that smell that is hard to describe.
Sometimes it is the smell of the doctors breath stinking up the whole office.
And some hospital hallways smell like old urine.
And it is a STRONG smell of it.
You should smell some massage parlors!
And some really OLD people, like in their 90's, when you walk in their house, there is this musty stale dusty decaying flesh smell that almost knocks you out.
I went to a real old foot doctor one time and not only did the whole place stink like feet but the plaster was coming out of the walls, the walls had dirty black smears all over them, the furniture was ancient, dirty and slimy. I left.

Because of smell of medicines, rotten bandages, blended with smell of each ailing person who visits the doctor's clinic.
it's the odour of cleaners trying to cover up the stench of sickness
What kind of stink are you talking about? Stink as in odor or sink because you hate to go there?
I haven't noticed a smell in mine ma-by when I go in next Ill pay more attention.
