Hi I am looking for information on Blood thinners and diet. What foods can cause!

Question:

Answers:
According to my doctor, any food high in vitamin K should be avoided to prevent clotting. The most common foods high in vitamin K are green vegetables (broccoli, spinach, romain lettuce, cabbage). My family has a blood disorder called Factor V, which is kind of the opposite of hemophilia, and everyone who is on blood thinners has been advised to avoid those foods.

Also, be careful with multi-vitamins. Most of them contain vitamin K.

call your pharmacy

Ask your doctor what preservatives to watch out for. I use to be an EMT and ran a call in which we lost a man who had an anaphlaxic reaction from Sardines and his medication, he did not make it. Please be aware of these tings with your doctor.

People on blood thinners are advised to avoid changing their usual consumption of foods high in vitamin K. In other words, don't suddenly reduce or increase. Here is a web site showing the level of vitamin K in some foods. http://www.cheshire-med.com/services/dietary/nutrinew/vitk.html

Most people are unaware that by doing cardio training you will increase the percentage of plasma volume in your blood as you begin to whop your body into shape effectively thinning it out your red blood cells.

Can you write me, on Yahoo?
