Other Answers:
Joint liquid or synovial fluid offers both physical and mechanical lubrication to the articular surfaces of a joint.
Composed of clear fluid with water and other non-reactive chemicals. The fluid helps prevent friction of the articular surfaces as the bones move. Analysis of this fluid reveal clear, almost sterile and acellular fluid in normal individuals though a considerable amount of people will deviate from this general rul since at any given time people are affected in this way or the other.
In cases of inflammation e.g synovitis, arthritis. the composition changes.Inflammatory cells can be seen and the fluid becomes turbid. In severe cases pus can form. The pain is one of the cardinal signs of inflammation.
In disease like arthritis, rheumatism,gout,pseudo-gout the subject will experience all cardinal signs of inflammation such as sweling(tumor), reddening , pain , loss of function, etc
See a doctor for proper diagnosis,if it is yor friend, advise him/her to do the same.
